WHAT IS SALVATION?
The word “salvation” means “to be saved”, which naturally leads us to ask, “Saved from what?” God desires - and has lovingly arranged - for every single person to share an extraordinary eternity with Him. This means that we are rescued from perdition (or hell), an eternity completely lacking all that is good. That is why every human being needs to be saved!
YOU WERE CREATED FOR COMMUNITY WITH GOD!
The Bible tells us that God not only created the world and everything in it, but He also longs to have a deep, intimate connection with us.
From the very first book of the Bible, we learn that we as human beings are “created in God’s image.” This means we reflect His likeness and hold a unique and exalted position among all of His creations. It also reveals that we possess the capacity and ability to connect with Him. In truth, God desires a close, personal relationship with you and me! Yet, He never forces Himself upon anyone; rather, in diverse and gentle ways, He guides us to understand that life is best lived in His loving presence.
Isn’t this a truly mind-blowing thought? Imagine that the God who crafted the vast universe and countless galaxies - even down to the tiniest cell - wants to be in communion with each and every one of us!
EMPTINESS WITHOUT GOD
Every human being is born with a deep yearning for "something"- something or someone greater, a void that we desperately try to fill and satisfy in our own ways. We might attempt to sate this longing with education, charitable work, friendship, romance, sex, money, food, drugs, careers, horoscopes, or occult practices… Yet the truth is, none of these pursuits can truly satisfy the profound emptiness within us.
The Bible declares that “God has set eternity in the hearts of men” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). God created us to be in intimate communion with Him - to experience the radiant promise of heaven right here in our everyday lives. As someone once said, we have a Jesus-sized void in our hearts that only an Almighty God can fill.
Throughout Scripture, we see God’s passionate longing for us. It began in the Garden of Eden, where the first humans enjoyed intimate fellowship with Him - so much so that they even strolled together in the cool, refreshing evening breeze! But after mankind was deceived into sin and chose to believe the lies of the devil, a separation arose between us and our Creator.
WHAT IS SIN, AND HOW DOES IT SEPARATE US FROM GOD?
Sin essentially means "missing the mark." That “mark” is to follow God's perfect will and to acknowledge that He, and He alone, knows best - a standard no human being can ever fully meet. As the Bible declares, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23-24).
Many people may think, "I don’t cheat on my taxes and I’m no worse than anyone else” (maybe even a bit better - though we don't boast about it!). But by setting our own standards so far below the divine, we are deceiving ourselves, denying the magnitude of God’s call.
To draw near to a God who is 100% sinless and utterly pure, it’s not enough to be 99% sinless - even if that were possible! And even if one managed to live almost perfectly, pride would quickly stealth its way into our hearts. Remember the truth: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble" (1 Peter 5:5).
Ultimately, it’s all about recognizing that God knows best and understanding that each one of us - regardless of our position - is completely dependent on His boundless grace. This humbling truth is not a condemnation, but an invitation: an invitation to let go of our self-sufficiency and lean fully into the transformative power of God's love.
GOD NEVER GAVE UP ON HUMANKIND
Despite humanity's repeated choice to sin and defy God's perfect will, He never ceased reaching out to us - constantly creating opportunities for reconnection. This is a hallmark uniquely found in the God of the Bible. Unlike other religions where people have to climb a steep ladder of merit to satisfy one or more deities, the Bible reveals a different narrative: God, out of boundless love, reached down to us, culminating in the ultimate act of grace by sending His very own Son, Jesus Christ.
WHO IS JESUS, AND WHAT DOES HE HAVE TO DO WITH IT?
Several historical sources outside the Bible confirm that Jesus truly lived, that His teachings spread far and wide, and that He was honored and worshipped as God. The Bible reveals that Jesus is God and that He has always existed. In an act of divine humility, He chose to be born into this world as a human being, embracing human limitations while remaining the true, transcendent God.
As mentioned before, we as humans never had a chance to draw near to God on our own - He is 100% holy and pure. Our only hope was that someone might pay the price for our sins. Yet it couldn’t be just anyone who had sinned or fallen short; it had to be someone who had lived in absolute perfection, capable of bearing a substitute punishment on our behalf.
Jesus endured brutal torture and suffered a painful death on the cross. He willingly became a blood offering to atone for your sins and mine. He did this to rescue us from the abyss of separation from God! After three days, He rose from the dead, and countless witnesses testified that they saw Him - speaking with Him, dining with Him - and affirmed that His resurrected body was indeed physical.
Without receiving the salvation that Jesus offers through His sacrifice and resurrection, we have no way to approach God or live eternally in His presence. Yet this gift is given freely to anyone who humbly acknowledges their need for help, believes that Jesus bore our punishment, and trusts in His victory over death—proclaiming that He is truly the Son of God.
FOR THIS LIFE, AND WHEN THIS LIFE IS OVER
Salvation matters in this life, but even more so when this life comes to an end. Are you willing to take the risk of a “wait and see” approach? An eternity with God means entering a realm free from all suffering and evil - a state of perpetual goodness and divine love. In contrast, an eternity without God is a state where nothing of what God stands for remains - no goodness, no love, only the presence of unrelenting wickedness. This is a fate we would never wish upon anyone!
Embrace salvation while you still can! We do not promise a life of unending ease here on earth, but that God has pledged to be near - every single day.
HOW TO GET SAVED?
You are saved by accepting Jesus’ finished work on the cross - where Jesus was made to be sin on your behalf so that He could pay the price for your sins. Through this sacrifice, you are reconciled to God, and by faith, He comes to dwell in your heart.
By repenting from sin, declaring Jesus Christ as Lord in your life, and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. You are saved by grace through faith—it is not by your own works, but a free gift from God. None of us is perfect, and none of us deserves salvation. We are not saved because we have earned it, but because Jesus made you worthy of it! Speak honestly with God about where you are right now. He hears you and will accept you just as you are!
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
THE WAY TO SALVATION
After you have been saved and born again, it is essential to be baptized as soon as possible. Reach out to us or another believer to be baptized by full immersion in water. In this act, you symbolically bury your "old self" (what we refer to as your former sinful nature) and rise to new life in Christ!
“For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
Dear Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I turn away from my sinful path and turn toward You. Jesus Christ, I declare You as the Lord over my life, and I commit to following You. Cleanse me with Your precious blood and wash me pure as freshly fallen snow.
I ask that You baptize me in Your Holy Spirit and fire, and teach me the way I should walk. I thank You for the salvation and justification now granted to me through Your sacrificial love.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Congratulations! You Are Now Saved!
It is important to begin a personal journey with Jesus by obtaining a Bible. We recommend starting with the New Testament, perhaps one of the Gospels or the book of Ephesians. As Christians, we are called to walk together, united in faith. We encourage you to find a church that proclaims salvation through Jesus Christ and can guide you in learning more about living out your new life in Him.
